Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner

Not so much to say about this one. I've always been a big fan of Warren Zevon's songs. The storytelling always had a dark wit and lots of political overtones which provided a nice (but usually brief) break from all the Grateful Dead I was listening to for about a 10 year stretch. I did see him once at Irving Plaza in New York, though. I remember being really disappointed that he wouldn't have a whole backing band with him because I figured things wouldn't sound like the albums. It ended up being a blessing, since with just Zevon playing piano on some songs (and guitar on others) you could really hear what he was talking about. It ended up being a great time and an even better show.
